Business Travel Insurance
When thinking about travel insurance most of us think about it in relation to our summer holidays and winter breaks. Travel insurance covers us for a number of events such as illness, loss of goods or legal disputes. Many people forget that the same events that can affect us on holidays can also affect us on business trips; and for this reason it is just as important to have sufficient cover when away on business as it is when on holiday.
Many companies now pay for or reimburse their employees’ travel insurance costs. This has meant that insurance providers are able to offer bulk deals to businesses who want to cover all their employees in a better value deal.
With business being affected by the health & safety laws prevalent in this country many companies are now starting to take out travel insurance policies to cover more situations than just overseas travel. Cover can extend to events such as team-building trips, training courses or other important events such as product launches. Insurance can cover a range of events that could occur in these circumstances.
For those who are self-employed, or are not covered by their employer, business insurance can be bought individually. This allows the individual to conduct business without the worry of suffering a mishap where they are visiting and being liable for any costs themselves.
For infrequent flyers it is probably better to buy insurance on a trip by trip basis. If you are a frequent flyer it is possible top buy insurance for annual time periods or other set periods. The former tends to be cheaper if you really are an infrequent flyer whereas the latter will save money for those who travel a lot.
With many new players moving into the market, such as AA Travel Insurance and Asda Travel Insurance, competition has led to many great deals that you can take advantage of. The downside of this is that you now have to hunt through many more providers to look for all the best deals.
With the internet even the job of hunting through many insurers has become easy. Comparison sites such as Motley Fool and Money Supermarket will do all the hard work for you. By comparing the best deals from a number of insurers these sites attempt to find the best one according to the criteria given. Comparison sites are usually free to use, they make their money by referring you to whichever insurer you may choose to go with, and will help you greatly in choosing the best deal for your trip (or trips!).
